The MikroTik cAP XL ac RBcAPGi-5acD2nD-XL is a dual-band ceiling-mount wireless access point designed for indoor WiFi deployments in homes, offices, hotels, schools, retail spaces and other managed networking environments. It supports 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n and 5GHz 802.11a/n/ac wireless connectivity with 2×2 MIMO radio architecture.
The cAP XL ac combines a compact ceiling-mount design with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing the device to be connected to a wired network while providing a second Ethernet interface for additional connectivity. It also supports 802.3af/at PoE-in and passive PoE-out through Ether2.
Running MikroTik RouterOS with a Level 4 license, the cAP XL ac can operate as a standalone access point or be integrated into a larger MikroTik wireless network depending on the network architecture and management requirements.
The MikroTik cAP XL ac provides simultaneous dual-band wireless connectivity. The 2.4GHz radio supports 802.11b/g/n, while the 5GHz radio supports 802.11a/n/ac.
Using both frequency bands allows network administrators to distribute wireless clients according to device compatibility, coverage requirements and network design. Older 2.4GHz clients can continue to connect while compatible modern devices can use the 5GHz band.
Both wireless bands use a 2×2 chain configuration. The integrated antenna system is designed for ceiling-mounted indoor deployments and provides higher antenna gain than the standard cAP ac design.
MikroTik specifies antenna gain of 6 dBi on 2.4GHz and 5.5 dBi on 5GHz for the cAP XL ac.
The cAP XL ac belongs to the WiFi 5 generation and uses IEEE 802.11ac on the 5GHz band. It should not be confused with newer MikroTik WiFi 6 or WiFi 7 access points.
Its 802.11ac platform makes it suitable for conventional business WiFi, hospitality networks, educational environments, retail deployments and other indoor wireless installations where WiFi 5 compatibility is sufficient.
The device includes two 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The first Ethernet port can be used as the primary network uplink, while the second port provides additional wired connectivity.
This two-port design can be useful in installations where another Ethernet device needs to be connected near the access point or where the second port is used for the device’s passive PoE-out capability.

Ether2 provides passive PoE-out, with support for output up to 57V according to the manufacturer’s specifications. This feature allows the cAP XL ac to supply power to a compatible passive-PoE device connected to Ether2.
PoE-out availability and usable power depend on the device’s power source and the total power requirements of the installation. Passive PoE should only be used with compatible equipment.
The cAP XL ac is powered by a quad-core IPQ-4018 CPU running at 710MHz. It also includes 128MB DDR3L RAM and 16MB Flash storage.
