MikroTik S-RJ01 is an RJ45 copper SFP module designed to convert a compatible Gigabit SFP port into a copper Ethernet interface. It supports 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1000Mbps Ethernet connectivity and uses a standard RJ45 connector for connection over twisted-pair Ethernet cabling.
The S-RJ01 is designed for networking devices equipped with compatible Gigabit SFP ports. It can be useful when a router, switch or other networking device has an available SFP cage but the required network connection is standard copper Ethernet rather than fiber.
MikroTik specifies a 1.25Gbps data rate for the module and a transmission distance of up to 100 meters.
The main purpose of the MikroTik S-RJ01 is simple: it allows a compatible SFP interface to be used with a conventional RJ45 Ethernet cable.
Instead of installing a fiber optic transceiver and fiber cable, the S-RJ01 can be inserted into a compatible SFP slot and connected to a copper Ethernet device using Cat5 or Cat6 cabling.
