The Ubiquiti UDM-Pro (UniFi Dream Machine Pro) is a 1U rack-mount UniFi Cloud Gateway that combines a high-performance security gateway, managed Gigabit Ethernet switching, 10G SFP+ connectivity and an integrated UniFi Protect NVR storage bay in a single appliance. It is designed for businesses, offices, campuses and professional UniFi deployments that require centralized network and security management.
The UDM-Pro provides 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput, multi-WAN support, advanced firewall features, VPN, VLAN-based network segmentation, dynamic routing and UniFi Network management. It also supports UniFi Protect, allowing a 3.5-inch HDD to be installed for video surveillance recording.
On the networking side, the UDM-Pro provides nine 1GbE RJ45 ports and two 10G SFP+ ports. One 1GbE RJ45 port and one 10G SFP+ port are configured as the default WAN options, while the remaining Gigabit ports provide the integrated LAN switching capability.

The UDM-Pro combines gateway, firewall and centralized UniFi network management functionality in one appliance. Administrators can configure networks, VLANs, firewall policies, routing, VPNs, WAN connections and connected UniFi devices through the UniFi management interface.
Ubiquiti specifies 3.5 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput for the UDM-Pro. This allows intrusion detection and prevention functionality to operate while the appliance performs its gateway and security functions.
Actual throughput depends on the enabled security features, traffic patterns, configuration and other network conditions. The 3.5 Gbps figure should therefore be treated as the manufacturer’s specified IDS/IPS performance rather than a guaranteed internet speed.
The UDM-Pro incorporates an integrated managed Gigabit switch. Its port layout includes nine 1GbE RJ45 ports, with the remaining LAN ports providing the integrated switching functionality after accounting for the WAN-capable RJ45 interface.
The switch supports VLAN and network segmentation features, allowing administrators to separate users, guest networks, IoT devices, surveillance systems and other network segments.
Two 10G SFP+ ports provide high-speed fiber or DAC connectivity. One of these can be used as the default 10G WAN interface, while the ports can also be used for high-speed network connections depending on the configuration.
The UDM-Pro supports multiple WAN connections with load balancing and failover capabilities. This can be useful for businesses that use two internet connections for improved availability.
The platform also supports Shadow Mode (VRRP) gateway failover and additional internet failover options through UniFi LTE Backup.
A dedicated 3.5-inch NVR HDD bay is built into the UDM-Pro for UniFi Protect surveillance storage. The HDD is installed separately and can be used for recording and managing compatible UniFi cameras through UniFi Protect.
The UDM-Pro therefore allows networking and surveillance management to be consolidated into a single rack-mounted appliance without requiring a separate UniFi Protect console.
The UDM-Pro provides stateful firewall functionality together with application-aware Layer 7 filtering, zone-based firewall rules, content filtering, ad blocking, DPI and traffic identification. VLAN/subnet-based traffic segmentation allows administrators to control communication between different network segments.
The UDM-Pro supports multiple VPN technologies and UniFi SD-WAN features. Available options include Site Magic, IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP and Teleport zero-configuration VPN.
These capabilities can be used for secure remote access, site-to-site connectivity and multi-site UniFi network deployments.
For more advanced business and enterprise networks, the UDM-Pro supports dynamic routing protocols including OSPF and BGP. It also provides advanced NAT, DHCP, QoS, multicast DNS and policy-based WAN/VPN routing functionality.
The UDM-Pro uses a professional 1U rack-mount chassis measuring 442.4 × 43.7 × 285.6 mm. Its integrated 1.3-inch touchscreen provides local visibility into device information and status.
