MikroTik hEX refresh E50UG is a compact wired Ethernet router designed for homes, home offices, small businesses and other network environments that require advanced routing without built-in Wi-Fi. It is the refreshed generation of the popular MikroTik hEX platform, featuring a modern dual-core ARM processor, 512 MB RAM, five Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB connectivity and RouterOS v7.
The MikroTik E50UG hEX refresh is built around a dual-core EN7562CT processor running at 950 MHz and includes 512 MB RAM with 128 MB NAND storage. The router provides five 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports and one USB Type-A port. It supports both DC power and passive PoE-in.
The MikroTik hEX refresh E50UG is a wired RouterOS-based Ethernet router. Unlike MikroTik hAP series products, the hEX refresh does not include an integrated wireless radio. This makes it suitable for installations where wired routing is required and Wi-Fi is provided separately through a dedicated access point.
With five Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, the E50UG can be used as a central router for wired networks, connecting an Internet uplink, switches, access points, servers, computers, CCTV equipment and other Ethernet devices.

The hEX refresh represents a significant hardware update over the earlier hEX generation. MikroTik upgraded the platform to a dual-core ARM processor at 950 MHz and increased memory to 512 MB RAM. MikroTik states that depending on configuration, the performance improvement can reach approximately 100–134% compared with the previous platform.
The combination of the EN7562CT CPU and 512 MB RAM provides additional resources for RouterOS configurations involving routing, firewall rules, queues, VPNs, VLANs and other networking functions.
The MikroTik hEX E50UG includes five 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports. These interfaces can be used to connect the router to an ISP, Ethernet switch, access point, workstation, server or other network equipment.
The actual throughput of the router depends on the RouterOS configuration, packet size, firewall and queue rules, VPN encryption, routing features and other processing requirements. MikroTik’s published laboratory results are configuration-dependent and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed Internet speed.
The E50UG comes with MikroTik RouterOS v7 and a Level 4 license. RouterOS provides a broad set of networking features that allows the hEX refresh to be configured for considerably more than basic Internet sharing.

The MikroTik hEX refresh E50UG includes one full-size USB Type-A port. The USB interface can be used with supported RouterOS functionality and compatible USB devices. The official specification lists a maximum USB current of up to 1A.

The hEX refresh provides two power input options: a DC jack and passive PoE-in. Both support an input voltage range of 12–28V. The standard package includes a 24V 0.38A power adapter.
Passive PoE can simplify installation when the router is located away from a conventional electrical outlet and a compatible passive PoE power arrangement is available. Always verify voltage and polarity before connecting PoE equipment.
With dimensions of approximately 113 × 89 × 28 mm, the hEX refresh is a compact networking platform that can be installed where space is limited. The enclosure is rated IP20 and the specified operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C. The device is intended for indoor use.

MikroTik publishes Ethernet test results for the E50UG under specific laboratory conditions. In its published RFC2544-based testing, the device reached multi-gigabit aggregate figures in some bridging and routing configurations. Performance varies substantially depending on packet size, firewall rules, queues and other RouterOS features enabled.
For this reason, the published test numbers should be used as hardware benchmark information rather than as a promise of a particular ISP speed.
The E50UG also has published IPsec test results. MikroTik’s documentation reports results for AES-128-CBC and AES-256-CBC configurations with different tunnel counts. Actual VPN throughput depends on encryption settings, packet sizes, number of tunnels, firewall configuration and other processing requirements.
This makes the hEX refresh relevant for network environments where RouterOS-based VPN functionality is required within the capabilities of the hardware.
