The TP-Link VIGI NVR1004H is a 4-channel network video recorder designed for professional IP surveillance systems using VIGI and compatible third-party network cameras. It provides centralized video recording, live monitoring, playback, backup and remote management for small offices, retail stores, homes, warehouses and other security installations.
The NVR supports up to 4 IP camera channels, recording resolutions up to 8MP, 4-channel synchronous playback and HDMI video output up to 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz. With H.265+ video compression, smart event support, ONVIF compatibility, local HDD storage and mobile access, the VIGI NVR1004H provides a practical foundation for a compact IP CCTV surveillance system.
The VIGI NVR1004H supports up to 4 network camera channels. Cameras can be connected through a network switch and managed centrally from the NVR. The recorder supports manual recording, scheduled recording and motion-detection recording modes.
It supports recording resolutions including 8MP, 5MP, 4MP, 3MP, 1080p, 720p and other standard resolutions, allowing the NVR to work with different VIGI camera models and surveillance requirements.
The NVR provides an HDMI output supporting resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 at 30Hz. A VGA output is also provided with support up to 1920 × 1080 at 60Hz.
HDMI and VGA can operate simultaneously, while the multi-view display supports 1-channel and 4-channel layouts. This allows users to monitor all connected cameras on a single screen.
The VIGI NVR1004H supports recording resolutions up to 8MP. Its decoding capability supports 2 channels at 8MP or 4 channels at 4MP, while up to 4 channels can be played back synchronously.
Playback tools include fast forward, fast backward, frame-by-frame playback, digital zoom, video clipping, exporting clips, recording lock and audio on/off.
The NVR supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 video compression. H.265+ helps reduce storage and bandwidth requirements compared with older compression technologies while maintaining suitable video quality.
This makes the recorder suitable for installations where storage capacity and network bandwidth need to be used efficiently.
The VIGI NVR1004H provides 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth and 60 Mbps outgoing bandwidth. The available bandwidth should be considered when selecting camera resolution, frame rate and bit rate for a four-camera surveillance system.
The recorder includes one SATA interface and supports an HDD with capacity up to 10TB. The HDD is not included with the standard NVR and needs to be installed separately.
The integrated HDD storage allows surveillance recordings to be retained locally for later playback, event investigation and backup.
The TP-Link VIGI NVR1004H supports ONVIF and CGI interoperability, allowing compatibility with supported third-party IP cameras in addition to VIGI cameras.

The NVR supports several recording and backup functions, including manual recording, scheduled recording and motion-detection recording. Recorded footage can be searched and reviewed using instant playback, regular playback, tag playback and event playback.

The VIGI NVR1004H is the standard non-PoE version. It does not include built-in PoE ports for directly powering IP cameras. For PoE camera installations, cameras can be connected through a separate PoE switch.
