MikroTik netPower 16P CRS318-16P-2S+OUT is a weather-resistant managed PoE switch designed for outdoor network infrastructure, wireless deployments, ISP/WISP networks, CCTV installations and other applications where multiple Ethernet devices need both network connectivity and power. It provides 16× Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE-Out along with 2× 10G SFP+ ports for high-speed fiber or DAC uplinks.
The switch is built around the Marvell 98DX226S switch chip with a dual-core 800 MHz ARM CPU, 256 MB RAM and 16 MB Flash storage. It supports RouterOS and SwOS dual boot, giving network administrators flexibility to use advanced MikroTik networking features or a dedicated switch-management environment.
The netPower 16P provides 16× 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports. All 16 Ethernet ports support PoE-Out, allowing compatible powered devices to receive data and electrical power through the same Ethernet cable.
The PoE system supports passive PoE with auto-sensing as well as IEEE 802.3af/at. The maximum output depends on the selected input voltage and power supply capability.
For high-speed backbone connectivity, the MikroTik netPower 16P includes 2× 10G SFP+ ports. These interfaces can be used with compatible optical transceivers or direct-attach cables for high-speed uplinks.
The 10G SFP+ ports are useful for connecting the switch to a core switch, aggregation router, server, fiber distribution point or another high-speed network device. This allows the Gigabit PoE access layer to connect to the network backbone without relying on a single Gigabit uplink.
The CRS318-16P-2S+OUT is specifically designed for outdoor deployment. The current MikroTik quick guide specifies an IP54 enclosure and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C. The manufacturer also specifies outdoor pole mounting for this device.
This makes the netPower 16P suitable for outdoor wireless infrastructure, rooftop network installations, tower sites, campus connectivity and other deployments where equipment may be exposed to dust and environmental conditions.
Proper installation and the supplied mounting hardware should be used according to MikroTik’s installation instructions. The device should not be treated as a completely waterproof or submersible enclosure.
The netPower 16P is particularly useful in ISP and WISP infrastructure because multiple outdoor radios, access points or other Ethernet devices can be connected to a single centralized PoE switch.
The 16 Gigabit PoE ports can provide connectivity to edge devices, while the two 10G SFP+ ports can be used for high-speed backhaul or aggregation links.
A typical deployment can use the netPower 16P at a tower or outdoor distribution point, with PoE-powered wireless equipment connected to the Ethernet ports and one or both SFP+ ports connected toward the network core.
The CRS318-16P-2S+OUT supports multiple DC input ranges. It accepts 18–30V DC or 48–57V DC through its two DC power inputs. This gives installers flexibility to select an appropriate power source based on the deployment and required PoE output.
Important: the power supply is not included with the netPower 16P. MikroTik lists compatible power options including the 24HPOW, 48POW and 48V2A96W supplies. The power supply should be selected according to the required total PoE load.

The actual total PoE power available is also limited by the power supply’s maximum current capacity. Therefore, a higher-rated power supply may be required when several PoE devices are connected simultaneously.
The MikroTik netPower 16P supports both RouterOS and SwOS. This allows the device to be configured according to the requirements of the network.
The device comes with a RouterOS Level 5 license.
The CRS318-16P-2S+OUT uses the Marvell 98DX226S switch chip and is included in MikroTik’s list of CRS3xx devices supporting Layer 3 hardware offloading. Supported routing functions can therefore be processed by the switch hardware rather than relying entirely on the CPU.
The actual performance of routing and switching depends on the RouterOS configuration, enabled features, traffic patterns, packet sizes and hardware-offload support for the specific functions being used.
The 16 PoE-Out Gigabit Ethernet ports make the netPower 16P suitable for powering compatible outdoor wireless access points, CPE devices, radios and other PoE-powered networking equipment.

The netPower 16P can also be used in outdoor CCTV and IP surveillance infrastructure where compatible cameras require PoE connectivity. Multiple IP cameras can be connected to the Gigabit PoE ports while the SFP+ interfaces can provide high-speed uplinks to a central network or recording infrastructure.
For surveillance deployments, the total power requirements of cameras should be calculated before selecting the power supply, particularly when using cameras with IR illumination, motorized PTZ mechanisms or additional powered accessories.
With 16 Gigabit PoE ports and 2× 10G SFP+, the CRS318-16P-2S+OUT can act as an outdoor access and aggregation switch. It can consolidate multiple Gigabit connections and forward traffic toward the core network through high-speed SFP+ links.
